The Dragon Boat Festival is commonly referred to as "Duanwu Festival" in English. It is a traditional Chinese holiday celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month.

The festival originated more than 2,000 years ago in memory of the patriotic poet Qu Yuan, who drowned himself in the Miluo River to protest against the corruption of the government. To prevent fish from eating his body, people threw food into the river, and then began racing dragon boats to scare away the fish. This led to the tradition of dragon boat racing.
